ARD’s or acoustic recording devices need maintenance and in some cases firmware upgrades before you deploy them.
We are gearing up for another season to monitor matuku-hūrepo and will keep you abreast of some of the steps we take to make sure our time in the field is optimised!
ARDs (acoustic recording devices) – like the DOC Electronics AR3, AR4 or Alato AR5 devices which are predominantly used for passive matuku-hūrepo monitoring need routine maintenance and may also need firmware updates before they are deployed.
We also recommend testing the devices before you put them in the field.
A lot of effort goes into deploying the devices so we’re working with providers to establish some best practice guidelines.
In the meantime here is the current information on updates, maintenance and deployment of devices for matuku-hūrepo monitoring:
- Alato have recently put out a firmware upgrade – your AR4s or AR5s should be updated following the advice given here:
- The Love Bittern Project has created the following forms relating to device deployment checks, maintenance and testing.
